How should I take care of my dentures?

Following your dentist’s instructions for denture care ensures that you won’t prematurely damage your dentures and need replacements. Proper denture care also minimizes bacteria in your mouth so you don’t experience problems like gum disease. 

To take care of your dentures, you should:

• Handle them over a sink full of water or some sort of cushioning, like a towel
• Brush them daily using a soft-bristled toothbrush
• Rinse them off after you eat
• Use a denture cleanser rather than toothpaste on your dentures
• Keep them submerged in cleaner or water when you’re not wearing them
• Brush your gums, tongue, and any remaining teeth every day

What are All-on-4® dentures?

All-on-4 dentures are a type of denture that eliminates some of the downsides of having dentures, like using denture adhesive or denture slipping. They feel like your natural teeth and function like them too because they’re supported by four evenly-spaced dental implants. 

Dental implants act as artificial tooth roots, but getting a lot of them can weaken your jawbone. With All-on-4, you have a limited number of dental implants that offer plenty of support to your restoration. Just like getting individual implants, it’s possible you’ll need a bone graft to make sure your jawbone is strong enough for the implants.
